Embergen VDB export density issue

Hello there!
I use Embergen from time to time on projects and today I discovered an issue that I read here and there in the forum but without finding a solution.

The issue: imported embergen (V1.2.2) VDB seems to have empty density channel, I tried importing the vdb in Blender and 3ds Max (up to date versions) and only the temperature or flames shows up in the viewport. Of course a material is already applied and the scale is correct.

This issue occurs on flames related projects, I used the default fire template as example. For smoke related template projects everything looks fine.

With Density selected:

Something is definitely here but not visible

Temperateur selected:

Flames selected:

Now, with the default smoke template, exported VDB and loaded in Blender:

Is there an easy fix? Or is it a known bug? Please tell me what I am doing wrong, I’d love to read your feedback on this!
Thanks for your help!

And, once again, don’t mind my issue. It’s a totally normal behaviour as I didn’t generated any smoke in my embergen scene, therefore, I understand that Density is related to smoke and not fire elements!
I hope this will clarify other people encountering the same “issue”!

Hi Nicolas, thanks for reaching out about this. You are correct, Blender is just displaying the preview for the selected channel so Density might not exist at all in the VDB. If you deselect it from your VDB export node it won’t show up at all so that may help avoid the confusion. As for the temperature channel, you can enable Remap parameters in the Advanced tab and just by doing that it should scale the temperature to the values that Blender is expecting. You can use the remap parameters section to refine your exports as well. Let me know if you have any other questions!

Hi notwillclarke, thanks for the clarification, I better understand how things work now, it totally make sense. Thank you for the remap tips as well, I’ll try that on my next export!
