Driving seed, rotation, etc with grayscale data

It would be very useful if we could drive (directly or indirectly via a modulator) the seed, rotation, etc properties.
It often happens that the texture I’m making has several, independent pieces. I want to apply noise to those pieces separately, in a way that the noise is not continuous but changes suddenly from item to item.
The attached image shows one example: I want to add noise to each rope strand separately so I need different slices of the noise, without needing to set up a threshold-noise-blend chain 17 times.
If grayscale data could drive the seed (mappin the 0..1 range to whatever int range the seed accepts) then a single node would produce the stripey noise.

Sounds complicated, but i’ve forwarded it over to the team to see what we can come up with.

Hm, actually this does a fairly good job. Weirdly the in UV should not be linked even if the pin is beeping.
