Adjusting brightness of 6 point lighting rig

I am getting some white clipping of the 6 point lighting rig and i was wondering if there is a way to reduce the brightness. These are the tlr/bbr lighting channels. There is the exposure setting but it appears to be broken or not working as i expect. When i set it to anything less that 0, my background becomes white (if i use the black background option) and the shading on the smoke becomes very ugly.

I have tried adjusting all the settings like smoke density, shadow density, black/white adjustment etc but nothing seems to get me the results i need. I want to keep the softness of the smoke so the light penetrates into the volume but without the clipping of the values to white. Increasing the shadow density does help with the clipping but then the shading/shadows have too much contrast.

Here is a pic of the results when i lower the exposure below 0.

Thanks!

Hey so sorry for the delay on this. We are aware of some issues regarding 6 point lighting and I will add this to that ticket. I am not sure exactly what I can offer in terms of advice in the meantime but we hope to look into this as soon as we can. Please let us know if you need anything else in the meantime!
