Retiming Simulation Tips?


Working on a large campfire shot that is fully 3D and I’m finding that the exported VDB’s are very slow.

I’ve read through the forums and tried to add more Oxygen etc but find that with increasing this too much I lose alot of detail as everything is so hot.

I’ve read through the forums and seen that re-timing is coming in a new version but is there any other recommendations for speeding up VDB’s?


Hi Chris, you can try using shredding, which adds more activity based on the temperature of the flame, or maybe a line force to help give it that extra push. You could also increase the frame stride to 2 which would make the simulation look like it’s going twice as fast. Let me know if this helps!
