I notice that if the ‘render smoke’ option is unchecked in the Shading node, any exported output sequence that contains an alpha channel ends up empty. I have tried various other options to try and render just flames without smoke on an alpha background, but I either get nothing, or a vary pale weird-looking version of the flames. Does anyone know what I’m missing - or if there is a correct way to output some flames only on an alpha background?
Hey there, it’s a little unintuitive, but the alpha render pass is usually only used for diffused elements. The way we have our render passes coded at the moment results in the flames channel being an emissive element. To get the “flame alpha” just connect the Flame Mask channel to the alpha and that should work. Let me know if this helps!
Hey Will,
That does it!
Thanks so much…
