Hey Nick!
I was wondering if it also will be possible to import Houdini VDB’s into Embergen - or does it only work from Embergen to Houdini?
Sorry if this question was already answered in another thread.
Cheers!

Hey Sarah,
We do have plans for a VDB importer but no timeline on that just yet. Likely sometime early next year! See this: https://trello.com/c/rtcjJOob/101-vdb-importer
Thanks,
Nick
What’s the status on this? I need exactly that. I made a Fire sim in Embergen and used “looping sim” to make a looping flipbook. But in Unreal I want to flip my Uvs horizontally after each full loop to break up the repetition of it even further. So that’s why I exported my VDB to houdini and blended the last frames with a mirrored version of my VDB sim. So, that means the first frame would be similar to the last frame except that it is flipped horizontally. Like so, I would be able to flip it in Unreal after each loop to break the repetition even further. But I have sadly not figured out a way to reimport my VDBs that I retouched in Houdini back again into Embergen.
Can you show me how that’s done?
I tried to avoid having to use Embergen as my final step but I really had a hard time trying to recreate the shading From Embergen in Houdini. I got close but not entirely ![]()
Reimporting VDB’s is something that won’t be available in EmberGen until version 2.0 which could be public at the end of this year at the very earliest.
