How do I make smoke last longer? (besides dissipation)

Hi all,

This is probably a very basic question, but I’ve Googled and tried many things with no luck. Simple as the title says: How do I make my smoke last much longer. I’ve turned all dissipation to 0 and the smoke still only lasts about 5 seconds. (Still well within the container)

I’m trying to create a large fog like area with very slow moving smoke/fog. I started with the manhole preset.

Thanks!
Edit: Just adding that reducing dissipation did indeed help a lot. But just not enough.

Hi Jeff, thanks for reaching out. You might want to increase the emission % so there is more smoke to start with.

You could also increase the Smoke Density Scale in the Shading node, but this may result in blocky sections in high density areas.

Let me know if this helps!
