Geo modeling workflow

I created a sphere and and used the hemisphere option. However I am wondering if it is possible to “cut” the top off of the sphere, so that I am only left with a sort of curved cylinder.

I suppose I could optionally achieve that same shape with the cylinder primitive and a geo warp?

In any case, I am wonder about mesh operators like booleans, sweep/angle controls, etc.

at the moment the shapes modifications seem fairly limited.
