I have the same error. I installed the trial. My graphics card drivers are the latest. Curiously, this path C:/Users/Capta/dev/EmberGen is hard-coded in the Embergen.exe file.
What graphics card are you using?
Intel(R) HD Graphics 5600
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 950M
Oh I see. Unfortunately you need at least a GTX 1060 in order to run EmberGen
