Hello there. I need some help
I have a baked Cinema 4D Voronoi fracture simulation. I exported into alembic, checked through all the necessary options. I imported into Embergen and it behaves completly different. (I can provide files if needed.) I thought i messed up something in the baking process so, I reimported the alembic into a new C4D project, and it runs like it should. Am I missing something in Embergens import node? Thanks for the help.
Hi there, if you can provide the files that would be very helpful. I would suggest testing your exports in a different app like Blender, just because some applications prefer certain import / export workflows that need to be considered when working in other applications. If it works in Blender, sometimes you can reexport it from there and it will work in EmberGen, but we would still like to know about these issues. Thanks!
Yes here’s the scene. Swirling destruction_alkembic.abc - Google Drive It is interesting, if I put it into blender, it interprets it correctly, as cinema 4d did, but for some reason EmberGen fails in this particular case. The rock chunks will spin around the head and will spin in the space. Thanks!
Did you ever manage to fix this? I am facing the same issue also with a destruction scene, my alembic looks good in every other software, just won’t work correctly in Embergen.
No, they never answered this. I ended up using the particular option of Embergen and tried to matching the forces…
We ultimately decided that our development time was better spent preparing the import / export tools for EmberGen 2.0 than delaying that to patch the functionality for EmberGen 1.0. Sorry for the delays!
Thanks Will,
I found out that one of the issues that my alembic file looked different inside of Embergen was due to the fact that some debris parts werent closed meshes, so I added a cap modifier which solved this issue. However I am still running into another issue where it looks like Embergen is unable to properly load the velocity data from these alembic files. I’ve tried exporting from different packages / exporting everything as one mesh object / exporting all debris pieces as individual mesh objects, but none of this seem to work.
Is this a known issue? Or should it be possible to get proper velocity date from an alembic file inside of Embergen? And if so, how should I approach this? And if this is a known issue, will this be fixed in Embergen 2.0? And is there any ETA for it?
Thanks!
Can you send over your mesh? If it has a variable vertex count then that won’t behave well in our programs either. But I can take a look and see what’s going on
Sure here you go: Dropbox
Let me know if you need anything else!
Hey thanks for this, this animation indeed has a variable vertex count so you’ll need to address that before its compatible with our software in its current state
