Retiming and FPS

Hello!
I have a couple of questions about matching fps from my 3d scene and retiming embergen simulations.
1- FPS: how do you match the FPS from your scene to embergen? Embergen defaults to 60fps at 60Hz So how do I match my 3d scene which is typically running at 24FPS?

2- Retiming: In my current blender scene I had to retime my animation to be 4X slower to be able to simulate a fast moving emitter in embergen but now I can’t figure out how to retime the simulation back to its original speed for exporting to blender.
What is the proper way of handling this?

Thank you.

Hey thanks for reaching out about this. As long as you have these 3 values (Override FPS, Frame Stride, Timestep) that together make a sound / correct equation then you should only need to export the total number of frames that you have in your animated mesh. The examples in the image demonstrate different iterations that should all work the same.

To clarify, when you enable the Override FPS setting in your import node, parameter values of 60x1=60 or even 30x3=90 will still match 1 to 1 in a 24 FPS blender or UE project. (Override FPS x Frame Stride = Timestep)

Utilizing this, you should be able to just export the total number of frames need and they should sync up to your animation 1 to 1. Using this technique allows you a bit more freedom to experiment in EmberGen.

As for the retiming aspect, you may want to change your approach to how you simulate the movement. If your animation isn’t too complex, it could make sense to remove the animation entirely and make the simulation look like it’s moving, then just parent that to the object so that it moves with it.

If you have any questions about this please let me know!
