First off, I’m REALLY loving Embergen and Geogen. I’m having an issue with importing Alembic files into Embergen. It seems like the limitation is importing alembic files bigger than 20Mb. Is this to be expected or is there some way to to raise this limit? I’m working on a short, and just wondering if this is an error, or if I need to get creative about setting up scenes for fx. Thanks so much again!

Is there a way to send via dm or some other secure way (it’s a character animation for a personal short)? I tried recreating it with another non sensitive file, and 40mb imports no problem. It must be something specific to the file.
**UPDATE**
Was thinking it might be something with the modifier stack (using Blender 4.5) and tried deleting corrective smooth and subdivision surface, leaving only the armature modifier (required to animate). The alembic came out to 28Mb and still crashed Embergen.
I tried fbx, but there are issues on import, even into blender, with the rig not exporting correctly. No rig issues with alembic, just the smaller acceptable export size.

I do think that this issue is less about the size of the file and more about how the mesh is created / stored / exported (some combination here). But I’ll be able to make a better guess once you send that over. Thanks for letting us know about this!

Hi Ryan, I got the alembic file but oddly enough it loads in perfectly fine in both EmberGen and LiquiGen… Can you let me know your system specs and what graphics card you’re using? Also are you loading this file through a main drive like on your desktop or something? Just make sure it’s local and not being added through like a network drive or something

I was able to open the test file after a couple tries. I’m loading from my documents in my machine. Oddly enough, I can open certain 40Mb alembic files, but not some 22Mb files. I’m new to PC for 3D ( I’m mainly 2d and some NPR blender stuff so Mac was working for me). I discovered Embergen after I bought a pc, so maybe i should’ve gotten a stronger machine

Hmmm, I’m not sure what the issue is if other larger alembic files load properly. Can you send me over your log file? You should be able to find it here:
