How can I adjust brightness of six point lighting?

I’m getting white clipping in my six point lighting maps. I’ve tried adjusting smoke density, shadow intensity, and shadow density scale, but I can seem to get any detail in the white areas. In engine, those sections end up very flat. I also tried the black background for 6 point lighting option, but then the smoke has dark edges.

I think if I can turn down the 6 point lighting I may be able to get detail into my maps. How can I do that? Is there a better way to avoid clipping and get nice detail?
